That applies whether you run a plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, dental, auto-body, or other local service business. The best layout depends on how customers choose your service—not on how many sections a template can fit on a page.
1. Make the offer specific
Name the main services in plain language. If a service has its own audience, process, or decision criteria, give it a dedicated page with useful details. A long list of keywords is not a substitute for explaining what the business actually does.
For example, an emergency repair page should make urgent contact easy. A planned renovation page may need more detail about scope, materials, and how estimates work. A clinic may need clear information about practitioners, appointment steps, and patient questions.
2. Be precise about location
Say where the business genuinely works and explain any limits that matter. A real service-area business can describe its coverage without claiming an office in every city. If a customer needs to know whether a job is in range, give them a direct way to check.
Location pages should be created because they answer different customer questions—not just because a city name can be swapped into a headline. See our guide to Google Business Profiles and real service areas.
3. Show relevant proof
Use genuine examples: completed work with permission, real team photos, accurate qualifications, clear policies, and authentic customer feedback. Label concept or demonstration work as a sample. Do not invent testimonials, client results, or credentials to fill a page.
4. Make the next step obvious on a phone
- Keep the phone number and main contact action easy to find.
- Ask only for the details needed to respond to the inquiry.
- Tell people what happens after they submit a form.
- Test every phone, email, booking, and quote link on a real mobile layout.
A polished design still needs working forms and accessible text. Use readable contrast, descriptive buttons, keyboard-friendly controls, and headings in a logical order.
5. Check the technical basics
Use a descriptive page title, a useful search-result description, a clear main heading, a secure connection, and a layout that works on narrow screens. Each public page should have one preferred URL (a canonical) and should be linked from a relevant page on the site. Measure page speed and accessibility with actual tools rather than relying on appearance alone.
